Laser Hair Removal Patient Instructions

Pre-Treatment Care 
‍Avoid the sun 21 days prior to treatment and at least 5 days after treatment 

Your provider may ask you to stop any topical medications or skin care products 5-7 days prior to treatment. 

You ​MUST​ avoid bleaching, plucking, or waxing hair for 4-6 weeks prior to treatment.  

‍RECENTLY TANNED SKIN CANNOT BE TREATED.

 The use of self-tanning skin products ​MUST​ be discontinued 7-14 days before treatment.  

No Antibiotics or any medications that make you photosensitive 14 days prior to any laser treatment 

‍PLEASE SHAVE LASER AREAS PRIOR TO TREATMENT

Intra-Treatment Care The use of topical anesthetics is optional. Please come in shaved prior to treatment. A $50 or more shave fee may apply + $5 Razor charge. Failing to shave may also take time away from your session or results will be poor. 

‍Post-Treatment Care

‍Immediately after treatment, there may be erythema (redness) and edema (swelling) of each hair follicle in the treatment site, which may last between 2 hours and up to 2-3 days following treatment.  A topical soothing skin care product such as ​Aloe Vera Gel​ ​may be applied following the treatment, if desired. Makeup may be used immediately after treatment if the skin is not irritated. 

‍AVOID SUN EXPOSURE TO REDUCE THE CHANCE OF HYPERPIGMENTATION. Use a ​sunblock (SPF 30+) at all times​ throughout the course of treatment. Avoid picking or scratching the treated skin.  

‍DO NOT USE​ ​any other hair removal treatment products or similar treatments (waxing, electrolysis, or tweezing) that will disturb the hair follicles in the treatment area for 4-6 weeks after the laser treatment was performed. Shaving may be used. Anywhere from 5-14 days after treatment, shedding of the treated hair may occur and this appears as new growth. This is​ ​NOT ​new hair growth.

You can clean and remove the hair by washing or wiping the area with a wet cloth or loofa sponge. No heat, steam, physical activity and sauna for at least 24-48 hours after treatment. There are no restrictions on bathing except to treat the skin gently, as if you had a sun burn, for the first 24 hours.
